Upon arrival at Sonmarg valley, guests are offered an amazing view of the Sonmarg Glacier and the Thajiwas Glacier. It is advised to relax here and enjoy the frosty winds before heading onward. It takes about four more hours to reach our camp site at Nichnai.
The trek from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake is a lengthy one. It passes through beautiful green meadows and the pristine natural beauty of the region. The first point we cross today is Nichnai pass. It takes about an hour to cross, approach the river and from here you view a gorgeous water body. Heading forward, the trail will undergo a sharp descent and will take you to meadows with colorful tiny flowers, as well as a cascade that finally joins the river. Today we begin trekking towards Kishansar Lake, which is located at around 500 feet above the campsite. This trek comprises of both easy and hard terrains, leading us to Kishansar Lake and finally following it to Gadsar pass, the highest point of this trek. From Gadsar Pass, we wade through green meadows full of flowers and pictorial lakes like the Gadsar Lake. From here, we will continue descending to reach Gadsar Lake. The view of the lake is stunning, adorned with the beauty of colorful exotic flowers and snow. Upon arrival here, we head to the nearest army camp for issuance of permits. We set up camp and settle down for the night. Meal and overnight stay in camps at Gadsar.
Today trekking trail takes us through steep, flat and even lands. We will start from the army camp heading towards Satsar Mala Lake, which means the chain of seven lakes. Today is also a challenging day as we cover approximately 11 kilometers. The thing that will keep you going is your passion for trekking and enthusiasm to complete this beautiful trek. The Trail will be rocky and full of boulders, making our progress slow and careful. Here onwards, we will start ascending to attain a height of over 13000 feet above sea level. From the summit point, you can see both Lake Gangabal and Lake Nundkul. From here you will face a sharp descent and reach the stream crossing which you will bring you to a lush meadow heading towards the beautiful Nundkul Lake.
